Micron trucks, dust, blasting: A few Clay neighbors bear the brunt of construction

Clay, N.Y. – Every 30 seconds or so, all day long, a huge construction truck rumbles past the line of homes on Caughdenoy Road in Clay. Water trucks roll up and down the road continuously, keeping down dust but creating lakes of mud in driveways.

During a 20-minute stretch on a recent weekday, 41 trucks rolled by, or about two every minute. The rate of trucks per minute was similar on nearby Route 31 a couple of days later.

Across the road, excavators, bulldozers and other heavy equipment operate up to 16 hours a day to move millions of cubic yards of earth and gravel for the Micron Technology chipmaking plant…
