OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Every month, thousands of Omaha citizens report their concerns to the Mayor’s Hotline. Reports range from abandoned vehicles to potholes and litter.
In July, the hotline’s five-member team handled 4,031 reports — down from the previous month but about average month to month.
What people are calling about
Every season brings spikes in certain types of complaints. In July, calls about litter increased.
“A lot of the litter that we see is illegal dumping. People will be dumping tires in alleys, or people may be moving out from a house over the summer time and so they will take their belongings from their house, put it in the yard thinking somebody’s going to come by and pick it up, and we get neighbors that will call in about the litter,” said Shawn Winquest, manager of the Mayor’s Hotline…
