1 dead after Austin ambulance chase ends in officer-involved shooting

One person is dead in an officer-involved shooting in Austin, Texas, after they stole an ambulance and led law enforcement on a chase down Interstate 35.

Sgt. Jason Galaviz, a member of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Media and Communications team, said during a news conference that troopers were notified around 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 13 that a person had stolen a Fort Worth Fire/EMS ambulance.

DPS was also informed that the ambulance was traveling southbound on I-35 in Williamson County, just north of Austin…
