Suspect in hit-and-run south of Winfield in custody

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 50-year-old man is in the Cowley County Jail after a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a Winfield man.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and 222nd Road, near the Cowley Cinema 8.

A 61-year-old man from Winfield was driving a pickup truck on the highway when it was hit by a white Jeep Wrangler that crossed onto U.S. Highway 77 from 222nd Road, according to the sheriff’s office. The man was flown to a Wichita hospital for treatment.
