Therapeutic day school to open in Aberdeen

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A new therapeutic day school is expected to open in Aberdeen in January, officials said Thursday.

The school will be for students from 4 to 14 who have emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges that could be related to childhood trauma, anxiety disorders and others, according to a news release from the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota.

Grant County addresses childcare shortage

The program is a partnership between the Aberdeen School District and CHS, funded by a grant from the South Dakota Department of Education.

The CHS has a similar therapeutic day school in Rapid City in partnership with the Rapid City Area School District. That school is the Lincoln School. CHS also operates Sioux Falls Loving School and Rockerville’s Owen School…
