HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The city of Huntsville has set a date for a public hearing looking at the creation of its newest tax increment financing, or TIF, district, which would include the future Eli Lilly site in Limestone County, as its paving the way for new homes in the area.
During its regular meeting, the City Council set a public hearing for Sept. 10 to discuss what it’s calling the TIF 8 district. The council also authorized city officials to prepare a project plan for TIF 8, which will be presented to the city council for approval when it’s complete.

“We want to make sure the infrastructure is in, not only for the new corporate citizen that’s coming, but the ones that are already out there,” Huntsville Director of Urban and Economic Development Shane Davis said.
