Docs: Indy man charged after hitting individual while backing up his vehicle

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man who had reportedly been drinking allegedly ran over an individual while backing up his vehicle on the south side of Indianapolis earlier this month.

Court documents indicate that Denial Kung was charged in Marion County with:

  • One count of causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 4 felony
  • One count of causing death when operating a motor vehicle when an ACE of .08 or more, a Level 4 felony

According to previous reports, one person was pronounced dead after a reported incident in the 8300 block of U.S. 31 South early Monday morning.

Deadly south side crash under investigation

At the time, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested a man in connection with the incident, stating that “impairment” was believed to be a factor.

The court documents indicate that when officers arrived at the time, the victim appeared to already be dead. However, it was unknown whether it was from being hit by a car or from a fight. The person was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead…
