SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — People are getting help after their home was severely damaged by a fire at a building on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The Syracuse Fire Department said in a statement that at about 7:30 p.m., crews were alerted to a reported fire at 1000 block of Emerson Avenue. Heavy fire was coming from the first and second floors of the 2-1/2 story building when firefighters got there.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents displaced by the fire. The structure consists of two apartments, which both received “significant fire damage,” the statement said. The blaze was under control in about 25 minutes and was completely extinguished after around 50 minutes…
