RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Over 5,500 Central Virginia homes and businesses are without power Friday evening amid severe storms.
On Friday, Aug. 14, severe thunderstorms rolled into parts of Central Virginia. Albemarle County and Charlottesville were hit particularly hard, with multiple tornado warnings issued in the area.
As of about 10 p.m. on Friday, more than 5,677 Dominion Energy customers were without power in Central Virginia. Significant outages include:
- Albemarle County: 2,472 homes and businesses without power
- Hanover County: 1,344 homes and businesses without power
- Charlottesville: 693 homes and businesses without power
- Goochland County: 572 homes and businesses without power
- Brunswick County: 171 homes and businesses without power
- Henrico County: 155 homes and businesses without power
