UVA Health joins national sarcoidosis registry to improve treatment and research

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -UVA Health is now part of a national sarcoidosis registry aimed at improving understanding of a complex immune disease that can affect nearly every organ in the body.

Sarcoidosis most commonly affects the lungs but can also impact the heart, nervous system, and skin. Doctors say the disease can present differently from person to person, depending on occupational, environmental, and hereditary factors.
