A 20-year-old Los Angeles man is behind bars after Riverside County sheriff’s deputies say he forced his way into a Temescal Valley home, brandished a firearm, and robbed the people inside. David Cordero was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of home invasion robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and brandishing a weapon following the confrontation on Glen Eden Road.
Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station deputies were called to a home on the 25000 block of Glen Eden Road on August 8, according to KTLA. Callers reported that the suspect had brandished a firearm and demanded valuables before fleeing the scene. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office later identified Cordero as the suspect and said deputies searched the surrounding area, deploying K9 and aviation units before locating and taking him into custody.
Cordero, who is from Los Angeles, was arrested on suspicion of targeting the Temescal Valley home and robbing the victims inside. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside, a seven-story facility that opened in 1989 and holds roughly 1,100 to 1,500 inmates, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said it has released no further details on whether Cordero and the victims knew each other, leaving that question unresolved for now.
A Rural Community Without Its Own Police Force
Temescal Valley is an unincorporated, census-designated community along the Interstate 15 corridor that recorded a population of 26,232 in the 2020 U.S. Census, according to Wikipedia.
