KDOC searching for resident who walked away from Wichita facility

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Kansas Department of Corrections needs help finding a man who walked away from a minimum-security facility Thursday evening.

Jauwon Antonio Allen, 36, was placed on escape status at approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, after he failed to return for the evening count at the Wichita Work-Release Facility.

Allen is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing 234 pounds with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue sweatpants, and a blue hat.

Records show Allen was serving a 35-month sentence following convictions in Sedgwick and Ellis counties for felony criminal threat and obstructing the legal process of official duty…
