The scourge that is the emerald ash borer, an invasive insect that has struck a handful of communities in the state, has prompted local authorities to take action.
The pesky beetle, discovered in June in Newberg and two other northwest Oregon communities, has taken aim at healthy trees and isn’t expected to stop there.
In response, the city of Newberg and the Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a workshop 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course, 4501 E. Fernwood Road.
