HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) reports the mandatory annual inspection of the U.S. 41 Twin Bridges in Henderson continues to progress, with crews transitioning from the northbound bridge to the southbound bridge August 14.
Officials note the transition is expected to be completed by Sunday, with the northbound bridge being fully reopened. Work is expected to continue through August 21, with crews working daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
New traffic pattern planned for Evansville’s East Side
Officials say drivers should anticipate delays on both bridges as crews move equipment into position to complete the inspection of the southbound bridge. During the lane restrictions, crews will also remove trash and debris from the bridge, clear bridge drains and patch potholes.
Drivers still adjusting to new 2nd Street layout
The KYTC notes on August 21, lane restrictions will extend farther north as crews replace a damaged sign near the weigh station at the Kentucky-Indiana state line. That closure is expected to extend from approximately mile point 17.2 to mile point 17.6 in Indiana. All lanes are expected to reopen by 3 p.m. Friday.
