GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A positive case of swine flu, variant of influenza, was discovered Friday in an Ionia County resident, health officials say.
The resident was a swine exhibitor at the Kent County Youth Fair in Lowell earlier this month where one pig died and several others became sick from the zoonotic disease, according to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD).
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Kent County Health Department have been in contact with swine exhibitors and their families in an attempt to find any additional positive cases of the Influenza variant.
