DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — “It felt like a bomb had gone off, a literal explosion,” that may have been Mary Halstead’s first thought, but it didn’t take long to figure out what had really happened Thursday night at her home on Buena Vista Drive in Lake Forest.

“I opened my blinds and saw a bunch of water spraying, and then I saw the car,” she said. “Oh my gosh, somebody crashed into my house.”
Daphne Police say Austin Mamuscia, 32, was behind the wheel of the white Kia that hit the front bedroom of the house and drove straight through.
“The first officer made contact with the driver, and he was passed out in the seat,” said Capt. Reginald Ardis of Daphne Police. “He attempted a sternum rub to wake him up, and he finally concluded that he might have been having a drug overdose based on some drug paraphernalia that he saw in plain sight.”
Police say Mamuscia never touched the brakes. “We believe he was unconscious before he left the pavement,” said Ardis.
“The whole front of the house is non-existent, it’s gone,” said Halstead. “You can see the wall from that room is sitting right here in the yard.”
While Halstead is cleaning up and making plans to repair the damage, Mamuscia was in court facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving Under the Influence – Controlled Substance, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Synthetic Urine, Driving While Suspended, No Insurance, Expired Tag, and Reckless Driving…
