EXTREME HEAT: Medics Dealing With A Number Of Heat-Related Issues

PALM BEACH COUNTY. BROWARD COUNTY. FAINTING. LETHARGIC.

The ages of those affected vary from the very young — under age 10 — to the very old — over age 90. Some were taking part in sports or other outdoor activities. Others affected were taking part in what would be considered to be low-impact activities like shopping. People have passed out, fallen, felt weak, or otherwise lethargic.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory earlier today for “real feel” temperatures between 105 and 110 degrees. With the advisory, which drops at 7 p.m. Saturday, comes this warning: “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.”

We expect a heat advisory to be issued again on Sunday for a “real fee” temperature of 106. The heat is expected to continue for most of next week…
