DES MOINES, Iowa- A woman charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI) in connection with a deadly crash that killed a motorcyclist is now suing his estate.
33-year-old Crystal Ivie filed the civil lawsuit in Polk County on Aug. 6 in connection with the June 4, 2025, collision on Des Moines’ south side.
Matthew “Rex” Ringgenberg, 40, was killed after Ivie allegedly pulled out in front of him.
Ivie’s criminal defense attorney, who is not representing her in the civil suit, previously told WHO 13’s Katie Kaplan that Ivie was severely injured in the crash.
“The fact that she’s had 4 or 5 surgeries, she’ll be a cripple the rest of her life, that she’s had a miscarriage,” said Attorney Timothy Duffy, in an interview about the criminal case…
