NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi is surely feeling the heat on Saturday and this evening will only bring some slight temporary relief before feeling it all over again on Sunday.
The Extreme Heat Warning will expire at 8 p.m. tonight, but will make a comeback again on Sunday at 11 a.m. as Heat Index values are expected to reach 115.
There’s also a Heat Advisory for some spots that will remain in effect until Monday at 8 p.m. for Heat Index values up to 110.
Temperatures wise for Saturday, Bogalusa did hit the triple digits this afternoon and Hammond wasn’t far with 99-degrees, but temperatures will dip down into the 70s for this evening:
If you have a dog that you need to walk please take extra caution and stay in the grassy shaded spots to help prevent them from burning their paws while out and about.
Don’t expect rain to “cool us off” because there won’t be any besides maybe a brief and very isolated shower or storm on the border of Tangipahoa and St. Helena parishes this evening…
