If you’re like me and sick of the 100° heat, I have good news for you: cooler weather is on the way. We just have to get through one more day.
Temperatures on Sunday will once again climb to around 100° as the extreme heat warning persists for one final day. Heat index values are expected to reach between 105° and 110°.
As temperatures quickly warm Sunday afternoon, relief will begin to make its way into the Ozarks Sunday evening as a cold front slowly pushes through the region.
The front will not only bring cooler temperatures but also the chance for rain and severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a 1 out of 5 Marginal Risk for areas east of I-49, where scattered thunderstorms could produce damaging hail and winds of up to 60 mph.
Rain is not expected to be widespread, with most locations staying dry, but a few spots could see a localized heavier downpour.
