Late summer has a way of making fruit pie seem like a perfectly reasonable life choice. When peaches, berries, cherries, and rhubarb are at their best, saying no to a warm slice with a flaky crust becomes unnecessarily difficult.
That was all the excuse I needed to start looking for some of the best fruit pies being served across Arizona right now. Some are piled high with juicy peaches, others lean tart with berries or rhubarb, and plenty arrive under golden crusts that barely survive the first forkful.
