Pole barn shop fire contained quickly; owner treated for minor hand burn

LEBANON, Ore. (KATU) — Firefighters in Lebanon quickly knocked down a structure fire Saturday night after crews were redirected to a new location while en route.

Lebanon Fire District firefighters responded to a reported structure fire around the area of River Drive mid-evening of Aug. 15 at 8:54 p.m. While crews were responding, the original 911 caller provided an updated location to the dispatch center in the 38000 block of Lawrence Drive.

When the battalion chief arrived, he was directed to a pole barn-type shop with light smoke showing from the eaves. During a 360-degree walk-around, the battalion chief encountered the property owner attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.

Firefighters arrived and quickly deployed hoses, directing streams into the structure where the fire was burning. The fire was brought under control within moments. Crews remained on scene for an additional hour for overhaul and mop-up…
