Two men already on pretrial release for burglarizing a Loop restaurant together are back in jail after Chicago police officers allegedly caught them doing the same thing again — and recovered suitcases full of Jimmy John’s cold cuts, chips and ice-cold soft drinks as evidence.
Josiah Crout, 19, and Shawn Bowman Williams, 19, were arrested at about 2:48 a.m. Monday, August 10, after officers on patrol spotted two people with suitcases looking through the windows of Cafecito, 7 North Wells Street, according to a CPD report.
One of the cops recognized Crout from a previous burglary arrest and knew he had an active warrant, the report said. The officers circled the block and pulled through an alley, where they allegedly saw Williams hit the restaurant’s glass door, causing a loud banging noise.
