102°. That was the high temperature in Springfield, making it the warmest temperature we’ve experienced since 2022. Thankfully, cooler weather returns on Monday.
A cold front made its way through the Ozarks this evening, ending the record warmth and sparking some scattered thunderstorms across the area. Don’t expect to break out the jacket just yet for Monday, but temperatures will be noticeably cooler, with highs only climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s. Most locations will stay dry, although a stray shower or two could develop south of Highway 60.
For Tuesday, we get back on the warmer side as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s, with plenty of humidity in the air. I’m keeping an eye on Tuesday night into early Wednesday for the potential for some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. At this time, no strong storms are expected.
Wednesday will most likely be the warmest day of the week as we make another run at 100°. Afterward, another cold front will move across the Ozarks, bringing temperatures back down to more seasonal levels for Thursday. That’s roughly where temperatures will stay for the remainder of the week.
The upcoming weekend is looking a whole lot cooler and nicer than what we just experienced. Highs on Saturday and Sunday should peak in the low 90s under mostly sunny skies…
