COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A man who pleaded guilty to shooting two Mifflin Township police officers received his prison sentence on Monday.
23-year-old Daveonte Dixon was given a sentence of at least 67 years in prison on six charges, including attempted murder and felonious assault. The judge set a maximum sentence at 72 and a half years with no possibility of early release.

The shooting occurred on May 28, 2025 when officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle at Perdue Avenue and Mecca Road. Dixon was the passenger in the vehicle and fled the scene before turning and firing shots at the officers.
Dixon was loose for two days before being arrested, with police saying he also fired shots at officers during his arrest. Ten other people were charged in connection with this case, most of which were charged with obstructing justice…
