BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Charter and online schools are continuing to grow across Idaho, while school districts across the state continue to see declining enrollment numbers.
IdahoEdNews first reported on the disparity in a recent report on the state’s declining enrollment and its impact on school budgets. Idaho’s population continues to grow after the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a wave of new transplants, but the population boom has not translated to more children in Idaho public schools.
Over the last five years, K-3 enrollment has fallen by more than 5,100 students, according to IdahoEdNews reporting. The cause appears to be due to multiple factors.
