Man sentenced to 10 years in prison on hit-and-run, car theft, other charges

A 25-year-old Eugene man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to more than a half-dozen car thefts and a hit-and-run collision that injured a woman riding a bicycle.

Steven Ronald Fischer Jr. drove a stolen Chevrolet Silverado truck May 20 eastbound on East 15th Avenue in Eugene and struck a 40-year-old woman riding south on High Street in a protected bicycle lane, police said after his June 1 arrest.

The woman required multiple surgeries and was likely to need years of physical therapy, police said…
