Fires disrupt blood drives across northern Nevada

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Bug and Stallion fires have disrupted blood collection efforts across northern Nevada, with three community blood drives canceled this week, according to Vitalant.

Drives canceled amid fire impact

The Bug Fire, the Stallion Fire and the closure of U.S. 395 affected collections last week, said Jackie Gramz, an account manager with Vitalant.

“So last week with the Bug Fire and the Stallion Fire and the closing of 395, it did impact our collections last week,” Gramz said. “We had to cancel three drives, which totaled 65 units that went uncollected.”
