SEATTLE – The last day to see one of Woodland Park Zoo’s beloved gorillas is Aug. 31, as the zoo prepares to move him to a new home.
Kitoko, the 6-year-old male western lowland gorilla, has reached the subadult stage of his life, where males naturally leave their natal group, or birth family. This milestone means he will be moved to prepare for his next life chapter: entering his bachelor group in a new location.
“Rather than wait before he becomes too boisterous, resulting in family scuffles, this is an auspicious time to move him to a new home where he can live with other males of similar ages and temperaments.” …
