A car crashed into a building in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood before 3:30 a.m. Monday, marking at least the fourth time this year that a vehicle has plowed into a structure somewhere in the city.
Details remain sparse about what led up to the impact, according to FOX 13 Seattle, which first reported the crash. It is not yet known whether anyone was injured inside or outside the building, whether the driver stayed at the scene, or whether the structure was later cleared for continued occupancy — all open questions as of Monday morning.
Under Washington law, a driver who strikes unattended property or a building is required to try to find the owner or leave written notice with contact information at the scene. Failing to do so under RCW 46.52.010 is a misdemeanor that can carry up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
