BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved a federal permit for a new deepwater port to begin construction.
The Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) is defined as the nation’s new greenfield container port project. This permit would allow the Port of New Orleans and partners to move the project into its next phase.
Located on the Lower Mississippi River, LIT is designed to accommodate large modern container ships that can’t pass through the Crescent City Connection, connecting over 30 states to global markets through access to major railroads and interstate highways.
