Springfield mom charged after delay in seeking care for injured infant

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -A Springfield mother is charged with endangering the welfare of a child after investigators say she waited more than four hours to call 911 for her critically injured newborn.

According to court records, Starr Vesey noticed her nearly six-week-old son was lethargic, limp, not eating and grunting, and had a visible bruise on his forehead, but did not call 911 right away.

Court records state Vesey last placed the baby in his crib around midnight on July 27th and did not check on him again until about 10 a.m. She told investigators the baby did not wake for feedings as usual and was unusually lethargic, refusing to eat, grunting and having difficulty moving his right arm…
