71-year-old man dies after slipping off boat, drowning in Lake Lanier

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A man drowned after slipping off his boat in Lake Lanier on Saturday, according to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Kim Gregory Battle, 71, was trying to grab his hat when he fell into the water near Three Sisters Island, witnesses said. Game wardens were called to the scene at around 3:30 p.m., and officials found his body about two hours later.

After a SONAR search, Battle’s body was located in 11 feet of water and recovered using a remote operated vessel, DNR said…
