A masked individual remains at large in Philadelphia after reportedly chasing and assaulting a woman while wearing a doll mask, according to police reports.
The incident occurred near City Hall on Wednesday, where the man approached a woman, asking if she was “ready to die,” before pursuing others in the area. Authorities described the suspect, who was wearing a white baby doll-style mask with black hair, as a Black male between 16 and 20 years old, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and carrying a black and blue plaid backpack.
During the chase, a 40-year-old woman fell and sustained injuries while trying to escape. The suspect was last seen fleeing into a nearby train station.
Philadelphia Police Captain Jason Smith noted that the man confronted multiple individuals, many of whom have yet to come forward. Surveillance footage captured the suspect running up to several people and displaying erratic behavior. At one point, he was denied service at a Dunkin’ due to his mask and left the establishment.
One victim reported being confronted twice and running while screaming for help. Police also revealed that the suspect recorded himself on a cell phone during the incidents.
Authorities anticipate charging the man with felony terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, and reckless endangerment as the investigation continues. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
