GAINESVILLE, Fla. – India Nekole Christian, 36, was arrested yesterday after allegedly attacking an elderly man in a Walmart parking lot and snatching $300 from him after he gave her $3; she was released from jail on August 3 to receive mental health treatment after having been found mentally incompetent to proceed in a previous case, and she walked out of the mental health facility after only six days.
At about 8:42 a.m. on August 17, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the northwest Walmart (5700 NW 23rd Street), where the 86-year-old victim said Christian approached him in the parking lot and asked him for money. The victim said he was standing next to his vehicle when he saw Christian panhandling in the parking lot, and when she approached him, he gave her $3. He said she started to walk away, but then she turned around and said she wanted more money; he reached into his pocket for more cash, inadvertently displaying part of a “wad” of cash…
