HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Ten North Alabama high schools earned spots among the state’s top 30 in a new ranking released by U.S. News & World Report, with one local school claiming the top spot statewide.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the rankings are based on several factors, including college readiness, state assessment proficiency and performance, graduation rates, college curriculum breadth and how underserved students perform academically. College readiness carried the greatest weight, accounting for 30% of a school’s overall score.
New Century Technology High School was the highest-ranked school in Alabama, while James Clemens High School, Arab High School, Huntsville High School and Bob Jones High School all placed within the state’s top 15 out of 391 high schools that were evaluated…
