‘Missing link’ greenway opens in Knoxville named after long-time civil servant

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The city of Knoxville held the grand opening for the Sue Clancy Greenway Extension in Fountain City Tuesday morning.

The mile-long stretch connects Adair Park and people living north of I-640 and Broadway with the area south of Sharp’s Ridge with the city calling it a “missing link.”

The greenway is named after Knoxville’s inaugural director of special events who started many city traditions including Christmas in the City, said Mayor Indya Kincannon.

Clancy spoke at the event. When asked how she felt about being honored in this way, Clancy said, “No worlds can explain.”…
