Chula Vista police ramp up DUI enforcement ahead of Labor Day

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) announced it will have additional officers on patrol ahead of Labor Day in an effort to combat driving under the influence as part of the national enforcement campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”

Additional officers will patrol from Aug. 19 to Labor Day, Sept. 7. In addition to the uptick in patrols, CVPD will also hold a DUI checkpoint during that period at an undisclosed location.

The department says that while drunk driving is a significant safety problem, other substances also impair driving, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and cannabis products…
