E-Bike Safety Concerns Grow Following Recent Accidents

E-bikes have become a popular way for people to get around Erie and surrounding communities, but Erie police said riders need to understand the rules and risks that come with them.

This summer, Erie police officers have seen a number of crashes involving e-bikes, motorized scooters and electric scooters. Most recently, a person died following an e-bike crash in Warren over the weekend.

Officials with the Erie Police Department said one of the biggest concerns is that many of the e-bikes they are seeing exceed the legal limits for speed and motor power.
