After removal of homeless encampment, residents look to city officials for a plan

KALAMAZOO, MI — A homeless encampment near downtown Kalamazoo may be gone, but frustrations still linger.

Kalamazoo residents spoke out at a City Commission meeting on Monday, Aug. 17, to criticize the city’s decision to remove a homeless encampment last week on North Edwards Street.

“Y’all just took the only place they have to call home,” said one woman during the public comment who said she was a “survivor of the Edwards Street sweep.”…
