East TN couple wants contractor to fix gravel driveway filled with ruts

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An East Tennessee couple wants a contractor to return and finish a job he started in May. The couple, who are in their 80s, wanted gravel spread and compacted, so they could more easily get in and out of their driveway, but they say the work done by the contractor is inadequate.

Wilma and Hubert Helton help support each other as they walk carefully over their new gravel driveway. It is filled with ruts, deep ones, and it doesn’t look anything like they expected when they hired AAC Hauling, Excavation, and Construction nearly three months ago. Wilma explained that she and Hubert paid $2,600 to have their driveway resurfaced.

“I think it looks terrible. The banks are falling in. They weren’t like that. Well, he was supposed to have put a drainage pipe. He did put one in, then he ran over it and broke it,” said Wilma Helton. “We see a little gutter, but I don’t see anything coming out down there.”…
