Severe Storms Dumped Torrential Rain on Lincoln Metro Wednesday Afternoon

LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 19)–Water rescue calls were made to Lincoln Fire and Rescue Wednesday afternoon, after severe thunderstorms dumped torrential downpours of rain across the Lincoln area.

Storms moved into Lincoln from the west/northwest around 1:45pm, after first developing Wednesday morning in north-central Nebraska and later producing strong winds of 82 mph near Greeley and prompting flood advisories in portions of Howard and Merrick counties.

By the time the line of thunderstorms reached portions of Butler, Seward and Saline counties, severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for all of Lincoln and central Lancaster County, which later expired at 2:30pm…
