ST. LOUIS—Last week’s announcement of a surge in federal law enforcement resources in the St. Louis area to combat violent crime and disrupt the supply of illegal firearms here is the latest source of contention for the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners.
During a meeting Wednesday, Mayor Cara Spencer, who by statute is the only member of the state-appointed panel not named by the governor, said she was not consulted in her elected capacity about the surge, and that the board wasn’t either.
