SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man indicted for assaulting a U.S. Postal Service worker was sentenced in federal court today.
Courtney J. Ellis, 45, was sentenced to seven years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Ellis pleaded guilty earlier this year to assaulting a postal worker while they were performing their official duty.

Court documents state that on June 18, 2025, a postal worker was delivering mail to Ellis’ house when Ellis hit him on the head with a wooden plank.
