Trial set in Portland man’s alleged killing of fellow rideshare driver he knew

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A trial has been set for a Portland man accused of fatally shooting a fellow rideshare driver.

Mahmoud Said Ali pleaded not guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree murder on Tuesday. The 42-year-old man is now scheduled to stand trial in the death of Anwar Osman starting on Sept. 28.

On Aug. 4 after 4 a.m., the Portland Police Bureau reported officers found Osman unconscious in a black Toyota Avalon as they were responding to reports of a shooting near the local U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement facility. Authorities said they attempted to render aid to the 41-year-old man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, but he was pronounced dead at the scene…
