HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Thursday morning. Today is a 48 First Alert Weather Day for the potential of strong to severe thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening hours.
We start off the day warm with morning temperatures in the low to middle 70s, you can feel the increase in humidity when you step outside. Today is mainly sunny to partly cloudy with high temperatures jumping into the middle 90s by the afternoon. The afternoon heat index will range from 98 to 106 degrees, stay hydrated and cool.
We are expecting scattered downpours and thunderstorms to develop across the Tennessee Valley between 2PM to 10PM. Given the hot, humid and unstable airmass in place, these scattered storms can become strong to severe in nature.
