North Tulsa walking school bus aims to curb absences as kids face unsafe route to class

For some families in north Tulsa, getting children to school can be a challenge before the school day even starts.

Some students who live near Edenwood Apartments and attend Burroughs Elementary School are not served by a school bus route, leaving families without reliable transportation to find other ways to get children to class. Community volunteers say that can mean students walking less than a mile to school along roads they consider unsafe, with busy traffic, broken glass and overgrown trees along the way.
