MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s a mild morning once again, although technically it’s not quite as warm as yesterday. Temperatures are starting in the low 80s at the beaches and in the mid 70s inland.
The first part of the morning will stay quiet, but today is a Weather Alert Day as feisty showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon. Most of the activity is expected during the evening hours. There is a heat advisory in effect for Horry County today. Temperatures will be slightly above average at 90 degrees and will feel like 105-108 degrees. Inland will be in the mid-90s again today, but not heat alerts in the Pee Dee.
A Level 2 severe weather risk is in place for most of the Pee Dee, including a 15% chance of damaging wind gusts and a 5% chance of large hail. The good news is that a tornado threat is not currently highlighted for our area. Along the beaches and for communities up to Conway and Longs, the threat is lower with only a Level 1 risk…
