Hot weekend ahead for Phoenix area; storm chances limited

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Today is a First Alert Weather Day with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect and a forecast high of 112 degrees in the Valley. That’s two degrees shy of the daily record and seven degrees above average.

The Extreme Heat Warning has now been extended through next Friday, and all of those days will also be First Alert Weather Days. As high pressure shifts and builds, expect daily highs between 111 degrees and 114 degrees and warm morning lows in the low 90s.

Monsoon moisture will be limited to the higher elevations over the next few days. Scattered thunderstorms can be expected in the mountains, but rain and thunderstorm chances in the Valley will be near only 10 percent. Gusty outflow winds are still possible as well…
