“We are excited to take a big step toward providing the Boca Raton community with another example of the kind of high-level recreational facility they have come to expect from the District,” District Chair Bob Rollins said. District Commissioners, representatives from Butters Construction & Development, and other local leaders are expected to attend. Commissioners selected Butters Construction & Development a couple of months ago to carry out the District’s design for roughly 70 acres on North Park’s east side.
That portion of the project will include more than five miles of walking and riding trails, a dog park, and a playground, with some trails featuring exercise equipment along the way. Once finished, crews are expected to have planted more than 1,000 native trees in the area east of NW 2nd Ave.
North Park is rising on the former Ocean Breeze golf course site in Boca Raton’s Boca Teeca neighborhood. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will oversee soil mitigation in areas where chemicals from the property’s golf course days left contamination, and the entire project will be built to meet Sustainable SITES Initiative standards for environmental sustainability…
